On the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day, Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan which is an initiative of ‘The Ponty Chadha Foundation’ organized ‘Maitri’ – an Autism awareness event. The celebrations took place at Wave Mall in Sector 18.

The event started with parents sharing their funny and positive experiences about their specially-abled child. This was followed with various dance performances and a fancy dress show by the children. The general public showed immense appreciation & encouragement towards these children by participating in the event and cheering the kids.

Responding to the importance of spreading awareness about Autism, Dr. Vandana Sharma, Director and Principal, Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan said, “Autism is a complex, life-long biological disorder of development that results in social interaction problems, communication difficulties, and restrictive or repetitive interests and behaviors. It is estimated that autism can be found in one-in-500 children or one-in-1000 children, who might be affected by some form of the disorder. With such an event we endeavor to spread the message that autistic children are special and talented. They just need our help and care and they can do wonders. We need to create awareness about Autism so that these children can be accepted in the community.”
