The event commenced with great enthusiasm, bringing together students, faculty members, medical professionals and participants from various institutions for a celebration of academic excellence, innovation and collaborative learning.

The inaugural ceremony was held at Sanjeevani Hall at 11:00 AM and began with a warm welcome for distinguished guests, faculty members and students. The traditional lamp-lighting ceremony marked the formal opening of the fest, symbolising the spirit of knowledge, wisdom and learning.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rambha Pathak, Dean Academics, highlighted the vision behind MedSpark 2026 and described the fest as a unique initiative aimed at transforming academic learning into an engaging and inspiring experience. Dr. Saurabh Srivastava, CMS, also addressed the audience and underlined the significance of such academic initiatives in strengthening holistic medical education. He stated that beyond theoretical knowledge, medical students must develop practical competence, ethical values and empathy to become responsible healthcare providers.

The inaugural session was further enriched by the motivational address of Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Director, GIMS, who encouraged students to pursue the medical profession with dedication, discipline and compassion. He stressed that medicine is not merely a career but a lifelong commitment to patient care and humanity.

One of the major highlights of the opening day was the guest lecture delivered by the Guest of Honour, Prof. Atul Goel, former DGME and former Director General of Health Sciences. Another key attraction was the Suturing Workshop organised jointly by the Departments of Surgery and Orthopedics. The workshop enabled participants to develop and refine essential clinical and surgical skills under expert supervision, making the session both educational and practically engaging.
