Meta Unveils ‘Muse Charm’: Keychain-Sized AI Device to Bring Personal Assistant Beyond the Smartphone

National News (24/09/2026): Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has unveiled Muse Charm, a compact, keychain-sized device designed to give users direct access to the company’s Muse personal AI agent without relying on a traditional smartphone interface. The device was showcased during Meta Connect 2026 and is expected to ship during the holiday season in December, although Meta has not yet announced its price.

Muse Charm Designed for Everyday AI Tasks

According to Meta, Muse is powered by its Muse Spark AI model and operates through a dedicated Muse Secure VM, allowing the agent to interact with users’ digital services and carry out tasks on their behalf. These include sending emails, booking travel and handling other online activities.

The new Charm device is designed to make those capabilities accessible through a small, portable form factor. Zuckerberg said Meta has packed the broader Muse experience, including its real-time voice and avatar technology, into a device that can be carried or attached to a keychain.

Meta is positioning the device as another way for users to interact with AI without having to open a smartphone app every time they want assistance.

Muse Comes to Meta’s AI Glasses

Meta is also expanding Muse to its AI-powered smart glasses, allowing users to interact with the assistant hands-free through voice commands.

The company says Muse can assist with a range of everyday activities, while Meta’s expanding glasses lineup is being developed to provide greater access to AI services without requiring users to hold a separate device. Meta has announced plans to offer more than 100 glasses options across its Ray-Ban, Oakley and Meta Glasses lines by the end of 2026.

Muse itself was launched in the United States earlier this month and is available through iOS, Android and the web, with support for AI glasses being added as part of Meta’s broader rollout.

Meta’s Broader Push Into Wearable AI

The launch of Muse Charm reflects Meta’s broader strategy of bringing artificial intelligence beyond conventional smartphone applications and into dedicated hardware.

Alongside AI glasses and the new Charm device, Meta continues to invest heavily in virtual and mixed reality. The company is developing new lightweight VR hardware as it expands its portfolio of wearable and immersive technologies.

With Muse Charm, AI glasses and next-generation VR products, Meta is building an ecosystem in which AI can serve as a direct interface for communication, digital services and everyday tasks.

The move also comes as several technology companies explore dedicated AI hardware, wearable assistants and agent-based computing. Meta’s latest products indicate that the company sees portable and wearable devices as an important part of the next phase of consumer AI.
