SpaceXAI Introduces Grok 4.7, Targets Faster and More Powerful AI for Coding and Knowledge Work

National News (24/09/2026): Elon Musk-led SpaceXAI has introduced Grok 4.7, the latest version of its artificial intelligence model, positioning it as a major upgrade for coding, complex problem-solving and knowledge-based tasks. The company claims that the new model delivers significantly faster performance while costing less than comparable AI systems.

According to SpaceXAI, Grok 4.7 has been designed to handle demanding tasks for longer periods rather than producing quick responses with limited reasoning. The model can also assess its own progress while working on a problem, allowing it to adjust its approach and continue working through complex assignments.

Focus on Long and Complex Coding Tasks

One of the key areas highlighted by the company is software development. Grok 4.7 has been evaluated through Cursor Bench 4.0, with SpaceXAI reporting strong performance in extended coding tasks that require sustained reasoning and multiple stages of problem-solving.

The new model features a larger base architecture compared with Grok 4.6 and has undergone longer reinforcement-learning training. The training process reportedly placed greater emphasis on difficult tasks that can require hours of work, rather than focusing primarily on short, straightforward questions.

Improved Context and General Knowledge Handling

SpaceXAI has also focused on improving the model’s ability to process longer contexts. This is intended to help Grok 4.7 retain and connect information across lengthy interactions, making it more suitable for complex research, programming projects and other knowledge-intensive workflows.

The company further stated that Grok 4.7 has a native understanding of the Grok Bot harness, which is expected to improve its performance in conversational interactions as well as broader knowledge-work applications.

New Safety and Security Layer

Alongside performance improvements, Grok 4.7 has been launched with a new safeguard stack. SpaceXAI said the updated safety system strengthens the model’s ability to resist attempts to bypass its restrictions, including jailbreak-style prompts.

The company described the new model as one of the strongest systems it has tested for refusal behaviour and resistance against attempts to circumvent its safeguards.

Pricing and Availability

Grok 4.7 is currently available through Cursor and Grok Build. SpaceXAI has announced pricing of $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens.

With its focus on extended reasoning, coding performance, longer context handling and enhanced safeguards, Grok 4.7 represents SpaceXAI’s latest effort to expand its AI model beyond conversational use and toward more demanding professional and technical workloads.
