GREATER NOIDA News (14/12/2025): In a significant step towards strengthening access to justice at the grassroots level, a Mobile Legal Aid Van was inaugurated on Saturday during the National Lok Adalat held at the Gautam Budh Nagar District Court premises. The initiative is a collaborative effort of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Gautam Budh Nagar, and the G.L. Bajaj Institute of Law.

The National Lok Adalat, organised as part of the countrywide Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, witnessed the settlement of cases through mutual consent, ensuring speedy and cost-effective justice. Lok Adalats play a crucial role in reducing litigation burden by resolving disputes in a simple, amicable, and non-adversarial manner, particularly benefiting economically weaker sections of society.

On the occasion, the Mobile Legal Aid Van was formally flagged off by Shri Atul Srivastava, District Judge and Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Gautam Budh Nagar. Addressing the gathering, the District Judge highlighted the importance of taking legal services beyond courtrooms and reaching people at their doorsteps.

Shri Atul Srivastava also commended the coordinated efforts of Shri Chandra Mohan Srivastava, Additional District Judge and Secretary, DLSA, Gautam Budh Nagar, and the management of G.L. Bajaj Institute of Law for conceptualising and implementing the initiative. He noted that such partnerships between judicial institutions and academic bodies are essential for promoting legal literacy and social justice.

The Mobile Legal Aid Van has been introduced as part of the broader social outreach programmes supported by Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Patron and Vice Chairman of G.L. Bajaj Institute of Law, along with the institution’s CEO, Shri Kartikeya Agarwal. The initiative reflects the institute’s commitment to community service and legal empowerment.

Equipped to disseminate information on legal rights, dispute resolution mechanisms, and government welfare schemes, the Mobile Legal Aid Van will travel across rural and urban areas. Its mission is to reach villages, local neighbourhoods, and underserved communities, providing reliable legal guidance in an accessible and respectful manner.

Legal experts associated with the programme stated that the van will also serve as a platform for spreading awareness about free legal aid services, Lok Adalats, and other welfare-oriented legal provisions. By bringing legal assistance closer to citizens, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between the justice system and the common people, ensuring that no one is deprived of legal support due to lack of awareness or resources.
