Gujarat (31/10/2022): At least 141 people have been reported dead following the collapse of a suspension bridge in Gujarat.

According to witnesses, there were several women and children on the nearly 150-year old bridge when the cables supporting the bridge snapped sending the victims tumbling into the river.

Around 177 people have been saved as search continues for people who are still missing.

Following the tragedy, Congress on Monday demanded a probe spearheaded by a retired SC/HC Judge.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has cancelled all his scheduled programmes, including a road show in Adampur.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister expressed grief over the tragedy, while addressing another event in the state. As per reports, he is expected to pay a visit to the accident site tomorrow.

Ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for kins of deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured have been announced.
