New Delhi, 31 October 2022: In the high-security Delhi Cantonment area, three robbers on bikes forced a man who had stopped at a 24-hour convenience store to give them his SUV at Gunpoint.

The incident was witnessed by at least three witnesses when it was reported early to the police on Saturday at 5.20am.

Rahul, the complainant and the driver of the Fortuner, told police he had traveled from Meerut to IGI airport to pick up a cousin of his boss, a businessman. He stopped at the store in the vicinity of Jharera hamlet in Delhi Cantt on his way back to Meerut.

2.11-minute video footage of the carjacking that was captured by the store’s CCTV also surfaced. It shows a guy, a cab driver, and a woman standing in front of the store. Rahul is seen driving a white SUV as it pulls up. The three suspects then show up on a motorcycle at the location, two of them donning masks.

One of them is seen casually approaching the store while wearing a red jacket. As soon as the suspect approaches Rahul, he exits his SUV, threatens him, and holds a gun at him. He is shortly joined by one of his assistants who are also armed.

Meanwhile, the third suspect can be seen waiting on the bike. CCTV footage reveals two witnesses seeing the incident take place while the cab driver is seen hurriedly driving away from the scene with his car. The three suspects then board the SUV and drive off.

According to the police, they are investigating if the suspect fired before stealing the vehicle. “We are investigating whether there was any personal animosity or a commercial issue in addition to the carjacking. We believe the accused followed the SUV for a considerable amount of time, “a policeman stated.
