Mumbai, Sept 21st,2022: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport of Mumbai handled a record passenger movement of 1.30 lakh passengers in a single day on 17th September.
This was the highest number of passengers recorded in a day after two years of Covid-19.
“The current growth in passenger traffic is a result of new destinations and increase in airplane capacity”, said Mumbai International Airport Ltd in a statement.
Delhi, Bangalore, and Chennai were the top three domestic destinations of the day, and Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore were the top three international routes.
In terms of airlines, IndiGo, Vistara, and Go First were the busiest domestic airlines, and AirIndia, IndiGo, and Emirates were the top three on the international front.
It also signals the beginning of the festive season travel as airlines expect busier weekends in the upcoming months.
After a decline in passengers and revenue during the pandemic, the aviation industry is on the path to recovery with normalcy in flight operations.
