Mumbai, August 20th,2022: Mumbai Traffic Police’s control room received multiple messages on the WhatsApp helpline number on Saturday, threatening a ’26/11-type’ attack in India.
The initial probe suggests that the number sending the texts seems to be from any foreign country.
“Text messages were received on the WhatsApp number of the Mumbai police’s traffic helpline operated from the control room located at Worli in central Mumbai around 11 pm on Friday,” the official said.
According to the messages, a 6-member team is said to be planning to execute a 26/11-type attack in India. Mumbai’s Crime Branch has launched an investigation on the threat messages.
The 26/11 attacks were one of the most horrific and devastating terrorist attacks carried out in the world. On 26th November 2008, ten members of an Islamic terrorist organization from Pakistan carried out 12 coordinated shootings and bombings across Mumbai which lasted for four days. 175 people lost their lives and more than 300 people were injured during these attacks.
