Noida, 1st September, 2022: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) announced on Wednesday that passengers of the Aqua Line will be able to listen to music while waiting at metro stations beginning September 1.
According to the NMRC, private FM channel Radio City would provide daily entertainment for in-transit customers. According to officials, this collaboration was first announced in February 2020, but the services were suspended following the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
“This collaboration is expected to enhance the rich commuting experience with NMRC’s easy and inexpensive transportation method. At NMRC stations and depots, Radio City will play curated music and material “Ritu Maheshwari, Managing Director of NMRC, stated.
“Similar types of facilities for passengers on board have been introduced by other metro Organizations under Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL),” the Senior IAS officer explained.
She stated that the NMRC aims to make commuters’ wait for the metro more enjoyable by providing continuous infotainment through its partnership with Music Broadcast Limited. “It is a non-revenue model that NMRC implemented and operated from 2019 to 2021,” Maheshwari remarked.
To commemorate the return of service, all notable Radio City Radio Jockeys will perform a live programme on Thursday at the Noida Sector-51 metro station on the Aqua Line.
Nisha Wadhwa, a spokesperson for the NMRC, stated that the metro rail service provider will not pay any money to the commercial FM channel. According to her, the project is simply for sharing platforms and improving consumers’ travel experiences.
“While there will be music to occupy the silent stretches of time inside the metro stations,” Wadhwa told, “the official announcements will be held without any disruption to help ease people’s travel.”
The Aqua Line connects Noida Sector 51 to Greater Noida Depot Station via 29.7 kilometres and 21 stations. It cost Rs 5,503 crore to build and opened to the public in January 2019, with an average daily traffic of roughly 35,000 passengers.
