Narendra Modi Govt is a threat to the world’s largest democracy
The Aam Aadmi Party welcomes the Uttarakhand High Court judgment on quashing the President’s rule in Uttarkhand. The Honourable High Court has upheld the democracy and Constitution of India which has been crushed mercilessly by the fascist Modi Sarkar.
An elected state government must prove its majority on the floor of the house, and not before a Governor or at a press conference as is the style of the BJP’s disruptive politics. In the landmark judgment of S R Bommai Vs Union of India that Supreme Court has already made it clear that majorities have to be proven on the floor of the house. The Modi Government threw this basic rule of our democracy to the winds when they dismissed an elected state government a day before the floor test, and imposed President’s rule. The Modi Government is so blinded in its desperation to take control of states that it has shown that they have no understanding of either the constitution or the judiciary – they just wish to grab rule by muscle power.
The AAP National Convenor Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that “This is a huge embarrassment to Modi Government. He should stop interfering with elected governments and respect democracy”. The judge’s have been fierce in their criticism of the centre and reiterated that the imposition of Article 356 is open to judicial review.
Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh said the High Court order was a “befitting reply” to the Centre’s decision of imposing President’s rule. “The country also needs to think whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become a threat to the world’s largest democracy,” Singh said. SanjaySingh has also raised concerns over a possible horse-trading ahead of floor test on April 29.
It is now becoming increasingly clear that the BJP lacks the competence to lead our diverse nation. Their only agendas are divisive and disruptive and such politics is dangerous for the well being of the citizens of our country.
