New Delhi, 5th July 2023: Twitter’s new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, addressed the company’s recent restrictions on tweet reading for the first time. Twitter stated in a statement that the ‘temporary limit’ was implemented to combat spam accounts.

Former CEO Elon Musk’s announced on July 1 that non-verified users would be limited to 600 tweets each day, while verified users can read up to 6,000 postings per day, with the restriction being 300 for newly-unverified accounts.

On July 4, Yaccarino shared her thoughts on the modifications. She noted that such actions to reinforce the platform were required by Twitter’s objective and referred to the redesign as ‘meaningful’. Yaccarino tweeted from Twitter’s Business account, emphasising the company’s dedication to assuring the validity of its user base.

Yaccarino tweeted, “When you have a mission like Twitter — you need to make big moves to keep strengthening the platform. This work is meaningful and on-going…”

Twitter put temporary limits on tweet reading to counteract spam accounts. The company claimed in a statement that unprecedented action was required to eradicate spam and bots off the site.

Twitter underlined that the reading limit only affected a small percentage of users, and that advertising remained consistent despite the change. The corporation stated that its primary goal was to make the platform a better space for everyone.
