NIT Jamshedpur student bags 1st prize at BIMTECH’s National Quiz Competition ‘BrainQuest 2022’

February 28, Greater Noida: Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) on Sunday organized the final round of its National Quiz competition, ‘BrainQuest 2022’.

The competition, which gave participants a chance to brush up their quizzing skills & shine as the ultimate quizzers of the nation, was open for all the college students across the nation.

The quiz was held across India in 4 regional rounds – East, South, West and North. Two finalists from each of these regional rounds made it to the national finale.

The quiz was conducted by Ace Quiz Master Krish Banik, a corporate quizmaster who has straddled live, T.V. and radio quizzes in India and abroad for both private and public sector corporates and institutions for the last 20 years. His quiz columns have been published in The Hindustan Times, The Times of India, The Statesman and other leading publications.

The quiz finale on Sunday was comprised of multiple rounds which tested the knowledge and skills of the participants across different subjects including brands, climate change, media, digital, technology and more.

The Chief Guest for the event was Aditya Agarwal, Vice president & head of Digital enterprise at Maruti Suzuki (India) & also an Alumnus of BIMTECH (First batch 1991-93).

After the quiz was over, Agarwal hailed the strategies & techniques of the participants. “What a game! This is a real lesson in corporate strategy for all of you; the way they were picking points was amazing,” stated the Chief Guest.

Highlighting how the results of the competition turned around 3-4 times during the finale, he said, ”Anybody can come up & snatch your strategy at any point in time.”

He further said, “I hope all of you take it back, absorb it & not take it as a game but as a lesson in corporate learning.”

“I work with Maruti & every day we live in this fear that how do we keep our leadership going, market share up & ensure that we remain leaders. It is a fight every day.” said Agarwal.

BIMTECH Director Dr Harivansh Chaturvedi expressed happiness & said, ”I’m very happy that hundreds of young people participated in it; we could touch around 70,000 students studying in various colleges.”

Sutej Sharma from NIT Jamshedpur bagged the first price at the competition and Aditya Pahadsingh from SSN College of Engineering Chennai came second.

TEN NEWS had a conversation with the winner Sutej Sharma, & the runner up Aditya Pahadsingh.

“I’m feeling great! Would like to thank especially my seniors at the quiz club,” said Sutej Sharma when asked about how he’s feeling after the win.

When being asked about overall experience & any particular strategy he followed at the competition, Sharma said “Overall experience was great. They hosted us gladly & there weren’t any difficulties commuting between the cities.” He further added, “Particular strategy I followed was to wait for the third round to commence because the highest points up for grabs were in that round.”

When asked about what he will do with the prize money he has earned, he said, “I’ll go to some other quizzes where I couldn’t win & give the rest to my father.”

On being asked about how he is feeling, the runner-up Aditya Pahadsingh siad, “Very very happy & satisfied with my performance; win or lose doesn’t matter, had a lot of fun today & that’s the most important thing.”

On overall experience at the competition, Pahadsingh said, “Fantastic experience. Lovely event, great audience & Quizmaster; There was some good competition. It came down to the last question to decide all the positions so the event went fantastically.” He added, “It was lovely to be here at BIMTECH, it’s a lovely campus to look around.”

“I didn’t had any particular strategy before the event, the only idea was to answer the question that I knew & try my best to guess the correct answer for the one that I didn’t know the answer to,” said Pahadsingh on if he had any particular strategy.

When asked what he’ll do with the prize money he has earned, he said, “I’ll probably collect my thoughts in maybe days to come & then take a call as to what to do with the prize.”

He added, “I really look forward to the next year’s BrainQuest & hopefully I’m back here again to take part in the next final as well.”

The winner of the competition bagged a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and the runner-up was awarded with Rs. 50,000.

There were around 800+ registrations from all parts of the country in the event & the participants pool comprised of students from reputed universities / institutes universities such as IITs, NITs, IIMS, DU, Symbiosis etc.
