  • Man murdered, women allegedly raped in Yamuna Expressway Loot.
  • Repeated incidents of robberies fast becoming regular on this 205 Km long expressway.
  • Illegal Shanties, Dhabba’s becoming point of recce, No-regulation by authorities.

A family of five travelling from Greater Noida to Bullandshahr through Yamuna Expressway were looted by robbers by bursting the tyres of their car. The family has just travelled around 2 KM’s from Jewar Toll. Robbers allegedly started misbehaving with women on which Salim objected. On receiving resistance assailants immediately fired two bullets in Salim’s chest and leg. Salim reportedly died on the spot.
Four women travelling with him have also alleged of rape by the robbers.

This loot isn’t the first unfortunate incident on this long stretch which often sees very less traffic during the night.
In January this year, arm bandits looted cash and valuable worth Rs 5 Lakh rupees from a Delhi bound private bus on the Yamuna Expressway. Three people were also injured in this robbery for opposing miscreants.

In 2016 alone over a dozen robbery cases were reported from this stretch.
Crassness of investigative authorities have kept confidence of robbers high. The modus operandi of these robbers so far is to lie low for some time after a major incident and then knock back after a fortnight or so. District administration has so far been completely ineffective to check these repeated incidents.
On condition of anonymity investigative officers who have previously worked on these cases claim that the assailants are mostly from nearby areas but in some cases men belonging to West Bengal and Jharkhand were also found complicit. Hence it is becoming rather hard to trace
