No need to panic, Govt has increased surveillance, says DM Suhas LY on recent spike in Covid

Noida, 17th April: In a press conferences conducted on 17th April, District Magistrate, Gautam Buddha Nagar (GBN), Suhas L.Y. said that although there has been an increase in the positivity rate in Delhi-NCR, no one has been hospitalised. “There is no need for panic,” he said.
Suhas L. Y. also stated that there is a lot of misinformation being spread about covid outbreak in educational institutions in Gautam Buddh Nagar. “There is no such covid outbreak news from most of the educational institutions,” he added. In Gautam Buddha Nagar, there are about 570 government educational institutions and 1450 private institutions.
In the press conference, the District Magistrate announced the measures undertaken to control the Covid variant from spreading. “The government has decided to undertake increased surveillance of Covid symptoms. There will be easy accessibility of medicines, oxygen cylinders and other medical facilities to all the people,” the DM said.
“A helpdesk has also been constituted to inform the schools, colleges, offices and other institutions about the new covid advisory. The control room (18004192211) is also available 24X7. Parents have been requested to not send their children to schools, if they are experiencing ILI symptoms,” he said.
In Gautam Buddha Nagar, the vaccination of people above 18 years is almost completed. In the 12-14 years age group, 49% of the population has been administered the vaccine and 84% vaccination has been completed in the age group of 14 to 17 years, DM confirmed.
“The present Covid symptoms have also been sent for gene sequencing to get more information about the Covid variant. We, thereby, request the people to support the authorities by following the Covid guidelines and undertake Covid appropriate behaviour,” advised Suhas L. Y., District Magistrate.
