‘Nothing suspicious’, says Delhi police on two unidentified bags which triggered a bomb scare in East Delhi

New Delhi, January 19: The Delhi Police cordoned off an area in east Delhiā€™s Trilokpuri after unclaimed bags were found near a metro pillar on Wednesday afternoon, triggering a bomb scare in the area, however, police said it was a case of bag lifting and nothing suspicious has been found.

Police official said a passer-by spotted the black bags lying at metro pillar number 50 near block 15 in Trilokpuri.

The National Security Guards (NSG), which has a unit to deal with such situations, was informed about the bags.

After the probe, it came out that it was a case of bag lifting and nothing suspicious was found on the spot.

Deputy Commissioner of East Delhi Police said It is a case of bag lifting and nothing suspicious has been found on the spot.

Moreover, on scanning only a charger, a laptop and a water bottle were found inside the two bags.

“A PCR call was received regarding two unidentified bags. Our teams reached the spot and found that nothing suspicious is there. It’s a case of bag lifting. We’ve identified the person and will handover the belongings,” she told to news agency ANI.

This bomb scare came just days after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) or crude bomb was found inside a bag left at a flower market in east Delhi’s Ghazipur on January 14.
