National News (26/08/2026): The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has sought clarifications from several listed companies following significant movements in their share prices and trading volumes, as well as media reports concerning some of the firms. The exchange said the move is aimed at ensuring that investors have access to the latest relevant information and that market participants are adequately informed.
According to the exchange, clarification notices were issued to companies where unusual increases or decreases in share prices or trading volumes were observed. In some other cases, the NSE sought responses to media reports to verify the accuracy of the information and safeguard investor interests.
Chaman Lal Setia Exports, IDBI Bank face volume-related queries
The NSE has sought clarification from Chaman Lal Setia Exports Limited after observing a significant rise in trading volume in the company’s shares. The exchange had written to the company on August 24, 2026, seeking relevant information.
A similar clarification was sought from IDBI Bank Limited after the exchange noticed a substantial increase in trading volume in its shares. The NSE has made the clarification available through its corporate filings section.
Jana Small Finance Bank questioned over merger-related media reports
The exchange has also approached Jana Small Finance Bank Limited following media reports suggesting that Jana Small Finance Bank and Federal Bank shares fell by up to 4% amid speculation surrounding a possible merger.
The NSE said it has written to the company to verify the accuracy of the information reported in the media and to provide clarity to the market. The exchange stated that such verification is intended to ensure that investors receive accurate and relevant information.
Price movements trigger queries for several companies
The NSE has sought clarification from Jay Jalaram Technologies Limited after observing a significant increase or decrease in the company’s share price. The exchange had written to the company on August 24.
Similar action has been taken in the cases of Lambodhara Textiles Limited, Mawana Sugars Limited, Pelatro Limited, Quadrant Future Tek Limited, Rockingdeals Circular Economy Limited, Shanthi Gears Limited and Waterways Leisure Tourism Limited, where notable movements in share prices were observed.
In the case of Mawana Sugars, the exchange had written to the company on August 24, 2026. For Lambodhara Textiles, Pelatro, Quadrant Future Tek, Rockingdeals Circular Economy, Shanthi Gears and Waterways Leisure Tourism, the NSE said responses from the respective companies are still awaited.
Unichem Laboratories sees significant rise in trading volume
Unichem Laboratories Limited has also come under the NSE’s scrutiny after a significant increase in trading volume was noticed in its shares.
The exchange has sought clarification from the pharmaceutical company regarding the unusual volume movement. As of the latest update, the company’s response is awaited.
Vodafone Idea clarification sought over ₹53 crore refund report
The NSE has separately sought clarification from Vodafone Idea Limited following media reports regarding an alleged delay in a ₹53 crore income-tax refund.
The reports stated that the Delhi High Court had criticised the Income Tax Department over the delay in processing the refund. The exchange has approached Vodafone Idea to establish the accuracy of the reported information and provide appropriate clarification to the market.
NSE says investor protection remains the objective
The exchange has repeatedly stated that such clarification requests are part of its efforts to maintain transparency and ensure that investors have access to material information that could influence trading decisions.
For companies where responses have already been received, the relevant clarifications are available on the NSE website under Corporate Filings > Announcements. In cases where companies have not yet responded, the exchange has indicated that their replies are awaited.
