Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal addresses BIMTECH alumni at convocation. Read his message for younger generation

Greater Noida, February 13: Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) organized the 32nd Convocation Day for the 2018-2020 batch & the 33rd Convocation day for the 2019-2021 batch on 11th-12th February.

Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Governor of Odisha & Chancellor of Birla Global University Bhubaneswar was the Chief Guest and Deepak Bagla, MD & CEO, Invest India was the Guest-of-Honor for the 32nd Convocation day.

Chief Guest for the 33rd Convocation day was Bhargav Dasgupta, MD & CEO at ICICI Lombard General Insurance Co Ltd. Mumbai.

Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Governor of Odisha, in his address, referred to many philosophers & their philosophical sayings on consciousness & existence, and said that consciousness is the need of the hour.

Governor of Odisha, interpreted convocation as ‘Vocational Consciousness’. He said, “I put the meaning of Convocation as Vocational Consciousness.”

“Whatever step you may take, in whatever direction you may move, whatever degree or any other thing you may obtain, it should give a smell of consciousness,” he added.

He said, “Academic excellence must be wedded to spiritual excellence; material existence & spiritual existence will go together.”

Further, in his address, he said, “If one wants to have a glimpse of consciousness one should be free from cast, creed, color, cunningness, cleverness, conspiracies & corruption, comparison, competition & complaints, political clumsiness strategies & diplomacies, importance indolence, inactivity & impurity.”

“As far as the convocation is concerned the rose of desire in you should become fire & the fire in you becomes the rose named love,” Prof. Lal added.

The Guest-of-Honor Deepak Bagla, MD & CEO, Invest India joined & addressed the Convocation via online mode.

Deepak Bagla, in his convocation address, talked about his believe in youngsters of India and how they can transform the world.

“This is the worst of times & its the best of times, but it’s also the biggest transformative time in history & the youth will be the biggest juggernaut for India, not to change your life, the life in the city but across the country & the globe,” Bagla stated sanguinely.

Bagla in his address stated, “What you are going through & what you are now entering is one of the biggest transformations ever in human history. Never before in the free world has transformation happened in such a manner as we are witnessing in India today.”

Bagla referred to India’s per capita data usage to prove his point on massive transformation that the country is going through.

Bagla said, “Just 48 months ago India’s global position as per capita data usage was about 122-123 & that position of India just 24 months ago changed to number 1, this is the pace at which you (India) are growing.”

He further said, “In my mind, for the first time in human history we will have each and every individual citizen of this country empowered in a sense of democratisation & this is the world you all are going to step in.”

The guest-of-honor exhorted, “You are now entering a world at a time where everything is possible but nothing is certain. That means you will have to constantly upgrade yourself & your skills.”

“I don’t see any more lifelong jobs which were there in our generation. You will probably have multiple jobs & one job may be very different from the other, you have to prepare for that world,” he added.

Bagla, expressing great reliance on the students, said, “You are our business leaders, our lives are in your hands but not just our lives, most importantly brand India is now in your hands.”

“Take it to a point where the entire world acknowledges that there’s no one better than you because that’s what the truth is, we are looking forward to you leading the way for us.” He concluded with the lines of encouragement for the student,” he affirmed

Chief Guest for the 33rd Convocation day for the 2019-2021 batch, Bhargav Dasgupta MD & CEO at ICICI Lombard General Insurance Co Ltd. Mumbai, in his address, shared some of his life stories, experiences & life lessons

After narrating a personal incident, he advised students to “never take consumers for granted and understand what your consumer wants.”

Sharing his second advice, he said, “When you make a mistake, be the first to acknowledge your own mistake. Through your career, there’ll be times when something under your watch will go down, at that point in time, I request & hope that you own up & take responsibility.”

He further said, “This country feels very different from the country that we grew up in. It’s full of energy, opportunities and it’s pregnant with possibilities & you have the opportunity of making that happen & in the process succeeding for yourselves.”

“Remember for every successful & powerful leader in this country, there are people who need your help & support. Retain your kindness, retain your sense of empathy, retain your sense of responsibility for your fellow countrymen,” Bhargav Dasgupta added.

Dr H. Chaturvedi, Director BIMTECH in his welcome address said, “The convocation day is a landmark event in the life of passing out scholars of any institution, it is the day of hope, fulfillment & a day when a student’s corporate journey commences”

He added, “More than 8,000 of our alumni have been contributing their best to the progress & growth of India’s primary, secondary & tertiary sector.”

BIMTECH was established in 1988 under the aegis of the Birla Academy of Art and Culture and supported by the Birla group of companies. It was shifted to the Greater Noida campus in 2004 & in 2013 BIMTECH established its second campus at Bhubaneswar which became a state private University in 2016.
