Olympic Medalist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore opens Sports League at Galgotias University, inspires students to take up sports

Greater Noida, 4th May: Former Union Minister and Olympic medalist Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathod (Retd.) on Monday inaugurated 4th Galgotias Indian College Sports League 2022 and Futsal ground at Galgotias University.

A total of 56 teams from eight states have participated in this league which consists of 16 sports.

Addressing the participants, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore outlined the benefits of sports and motivated everyone to take up sports and maintain life-long association with sports. He said that sports breaks the spirit of caste, religion, “all of you players are lucky that you have associated your life with sports”. He further said that books can take you forward in life but sports teach you practical knowledge.

Talking of Galgotias, the former Minister praised the University’s infrastructure and its vision for sports.

On the new education policy, he said that even if you miss studies due to sports or any other reason, you can complete your studies with this new education policy.

Towards the end, Rathore felicitated NCC cadets of the university and students of sports club by giving them medals and trophies.

During the inauguration, Chancellor Sunil Galgotia; Chief Executive Officer Dhruv Galgotia; Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Preeti Bajaj; Registrar Nitin Gaur; Dr. AK Jain, NCC coach Dushyant Rana; Sports Officer Prashant Bhardwaj and Yusuf Ahmed were present.
