New Delhi (India), April 12, 2023: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat Express train via video conferencing.

The inaugural train will ply between Jaipur and Delhi Cantt. railway station, and the regular service will start on April 13, operating between Ajmer and Delhi Cantt. The train is equipped with state-of-the-art passenger amenities, providing a faster, more comfortable, and more convenient travel experience.

According to the schedule, the new Vande Bharat Express will cover the distance between Delhi Cantt. and Ajmer in 5 hours and 15 minutes, which is 60 minutes faster than the present fastest train on the same route, the Shatabdi Express.

The train will improve connectivity to major tourist destinations in Rajasthan, including Pushkar and the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, and provide a boost to socio-economic development in the region.

The Ajmer-Delhi Cantt. Vande Bharat Express will be the world’s first semi-high-speed passenger train on high-rise overhead electric (OHE) territory.

This is the fourth Vande Bharat Express to be launched by the Prime Minister this year, after Chennai-Coimbatore, Secunderabad-Tirupati, and Bhopal-New Delhi.

The train sets are indigenously manufactured and aim to provide a faster and more efficient travel experience for passengers.
