UP Polls 2017: Eight model polling booths identified so far in the GB Nagar

NOIDA: The GB Nagar district administration has identified eight model polling booths in the three assembly constituencies which includes a number of facilities.

In Noida, the administration has identified three model polling booths in the three sectors of the Constituency.
“The sectors include 12, 62 and 15 where the administration will arrange sofas, chairs and other facilities for the voters,” SDM Gautam Buddh Nagar told Tennews over phone.
Model polling station aims at enhancing electoral participation by improving infrastructure of polling premises, systematic queue management and courteous behaviour by polling personnel.
“Priority voting is arranged for voters who are visually impaired, infirm, aged, pregnant women or lactating mothers,” said SDM.
Similarly, the Ghaziabad district administration has also identified 10 model polling booths in the five assembly constituencies.
The polling booth in Bisada village under Dadri assembly constituency, which had been termed ‘critical’ due to past cases, has been made a model polling booth.
There are 12,84000 voters in all the three constituencies of the district Gautam Buddh Nagar.
“In case of voter slips, the voters can collect it from BLO’s or they can use other documents as well for casting their votes,” The DM N.P Singh has said.
The district Gautam Buddh Nagar includes three constituencies Noida, Dadri and Jewar.
Where prominent contestants include Home Minister of India Rajnath’s son Pankaj Singh who is performing his electoral debut for the first time.
On Saturday, it will be the largest phase wise polling which is going to held in Uttar Pradesh.
Nearly 2.6 crore people in 73 constituencies of western Uttar Pradesh will be eligible to vote on Saturday in the first of the seven phases of high-stake Assembly elections, seen as a litmus test for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nearly three-year rule.
839 candidates, including from main contenders BJP, BSP, allies Congress and Samajwadi party, RLD as well independents, are in the fray from the seats in 15 districts where 26,823 polling stations have been set up.
Among the electorate are 1.17 crore women and 1,508 belonging to third gender category. The largest constituency in terms of electorate is Sahibabad, while Jalesar is the smallest.
