New Delhi, 15th May 2023: IPS officer Praveen Sood is set to takeover as his new position as the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The appointment made on Sunday is for a period of 2 years and was done through a high-powered selection committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
An officer of the 1986 batch, Officer Sood was appointed Karnataka DGP in January 2020, superseding 1985-batch IPS officer Ashit Mohan Prasad.
The official government order read that he is to assume charge of the office following the completion of the current director Subodh Kumar Jaiswal’s tenure.
Sood started his career in 1989, when he was appointed as the assistant superintendent of police (Mysore). He later served as the SP of Bellary and Raichur before being assigned as the deputy commissioner of police (law and order) in Bengaluru. He went on a three-year foreign deputation as a police advisor to the Government of Mauritius in 1999, where he worked closely with European and American police.
