Preliminary Report of Train Derailment Accident between Kalka-Shimla Section

Shri S.K. Pathak, Commissioner of Railway Safety, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India Northeast Frontier Circle, Kolkata held a statutory inquiry into the Derailment of Up Charter Special Train at Km. 3/14-15 between Kalka and Taksal Stations on Kalka –Shimla Narrow Gauge Section of Ambala Division of Northern Railway at about 12:51 hours of 12.09.2015.

As a result of the derailment 2 passengers were killed 3 passengers sustained grievous injury and 8 had simple injury.

According to the provisional findings of the Commissioner appended with his preliminary report the accident took place due to “Failure of Railway Staff”.

These findings are under the consideration of the Government.
