President Droupadi Murmu addresses Parliament, terms Modi govt as fearless and decisive one

New Delhi (India) 31st Jan 2023: In her first address to Parliament as President, Droupadi Murmu expressed her gratitude to the citizens for electing a stable government for two consecutive terms. President Murmu acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government as a fearless and decisive one and stated her vision for India to be a self-reliant and humanitarian nation by 2047.

The Budget session began with Prime Minister Modi’s address to media, wherein he stated that the Finance Minister’s Budget presentation will aim to meet the hopes and aspirations of the common citizen despite the unstable global economic situation.

Several Congress MPs, including the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, were unable to attend the President’s address due to delayed flights caused by inclement weather in Srinagar. The Congress leaders and MPs were reportedly in Srinagar for the concluding events of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The budget session is expected to provide insights into the government’s plans to boost the economy and tackle pressing issues facing the nation.
