New Delhi, July 25, 2023: President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to meet two exceptional students from SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack during her visit to Odisha today.

The students, Sambit Barik from Balasore and Sayoni Mishra from Balugaon, are fourth and second-year MBBS students, respectively, who have displayed outstanding merit and determination despite facing financial adversity to pursue their medical education.

President Murmu expressed her desire to meet these students after learning about their remarkable struggles and resilience. Sambit and Sayoni, both from economically weaker backgrounds, have shown exemplary dedication to their studies.

Sambit, brimming with excitement, shared, “I am really looking forward to meeting President Murmu, the first citizen of India. Our group, ‘Atut Bandhan,’ has been a lifeline for financially challenged students like us. The group’s head, Pritish Kumar Basu, arranged this meeting with the President, and I am deeply grateful to him for his ongoing financial support.”

Sayoni, hailing from a small town, Balugaon, aspires to become a doctor to alleviate the suffering of her community, which lacks proper medical facilities. She said, “Meeting the President feels like a dream come true. I have faced significant financial constraints while pursuing my medical education, but thanks to the ‘Atut Bandhan’ group, I have received consistent financial assistance. I am eager to share my journey with President Murmu and discuss the challenges faced by meritorious students like me. I hope to seek her support in assisting others in similar predicaments.”
