New Delhi, July 25, 2023: The war of words escalated between the ruling BJP and the Opposition front India as Prime Minister Narendra Modi cited terror outfits Indian Mujahideen and Popular Front of India to criticize the newly formed alliance.

In a sharp retort, the Opposition front India, led by senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, vowed to heal Manipur and rebuild the idea of India in the northeastern state.

Taking to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi declared, “Call us whatever you want, we are INDIA. We will help heal Manipur and wipe the tears of every woman and child. We will bring back love and peace for all her people. We will rebuild the idea of India in Manipur.”

Earlier, at the BJP’s parliamentary party meeting, PM Modi expressed his frustration with what he labeled as a “directionless opposition.” He remarked, “They keep praising themselves for the name INDIA. Indian National Congress. East India company. Indian Mujahideen. Popular Front of India – these are also INDIA. Just using the name INDIA does not mean anything,” as quoted by BJP veteran Ravi Shankar Prasad.

The ongoing impasse in Parliament over the unrest in Manipur, highlighted by a disturbing video of two tribal women paraded naked, has intensified the political climate. The Opposition has been pressing for a detailed discussion on Manipur during the Monsoon Session, while the government is ready to present its position. However, the Opposition demands a statement from the Prime Minister himself.

The Opposition front India, united against the ruling BJP for the 2024 general election, has raised questions about the Prime Minister addressing the media on the Manipur issue but not the House.

With Rahul Gandhi disqualified as an MP following a criminal defamation conviction, he is not attending the Monsoon Session. Seeking relief, he has approached the Supreme Court after an unsuccessful appeal at the High Court.

The face-off in Parliament continues to intensify as both sides stand firm in their demands and positions, leading to a charged atmosphere in the legislative halls.
