Punjab govt allots Rs 20 crore to install CCTVs at strategic border points

Chandigarh, 18th May 2023: The Punjab government has authorised using INR 20 crore for the installation of CCTV cameras at strategic border points across the state.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann ordered setting up the cameras to ensure a strict vigil on the movement of drones and smugglers through the border villages.

Special Director General of Police, Arpit Shukla further added that the state DGP sanctioned and announced a reward of INR 1 lakh for anyone providing information on drone movement leading to recovery of weapons or narcotics in the state.

The decision was taken during a joint coordination-cum-review meeting with the Inspector General of the Border Security Force’s Punjab Frontier and the SDGP of Punjab Police.

The meeting also led to discussions on ways to strengthen border security to prevent infiltration and smuggling.
