Moscow, Oct 28, 2022: On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin showered praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and praised India’s independent foreign policy.
Speaking to Valdai Club Conference in Moscow, Putin stated, “PM Modi is a great patriot who is able to pursue an independent foreign policy despite any attempts to do some detente or limit something.”
He went on to add that, “India has a great future and an increasing role in global affairs”.
Putin’s endorsement of India’s foreign policy comes weeks after the latter did not participate in the voting of the United Nations resolution condemning Russia’s annexation of 4 Ukrainian regions – Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
However, India had expressed deep concern over the escalation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict that had resulted in the destruction of civilian infrastructure and death of civilians.
