PVNL Conducts ‘Jan Sunwai’ In Noida to discuss Tariff Order, Chairman Faces large Number Power Sector Grievances

PVNL (Paschimanchal Vidyut Nigam Limited) today conducted a “Jan Sunwai” session in Noida to hear different issues and grievances of Noida-Greater Noida power sector issues.
Senior officials of Power Corporation initiated the discussions with few presentation highlighting different aspects of the cooperation’s distribution and energy generation segment.
Thereafter representatives from different AOA’s, RWA’s, FONRWA, Golden Federation of Greater Noida, Active Citizens Team and others raised their grievances regarding power sector.
Golden Federation of RWA President Devendra Tiger said, “During new connections, NPCL charges for 35 metres of cable, no matter how small the distance is. Also there is no roaster for power cuts in villages and NPCL continuously increases power charges citing different loses we request that if this organization is making so much of loss, it should be shut down and some other corporation be provided the responsibility”.

Harinder Bhati from Active Citizen Team requested that such meeting must be also conducted in Greater Noida so that more people of the region can reach and share their grievances. He said, “Such meetings need to be more publicized and NPCL must be made accountable for different grievances that citizens have in the region”.
After listening to different grievances Chairman SK Agarwal said that he will try that at least there are two more “Jan Sunwai” session apart from Tariff discussion.
He added, “There are lot many problems of people and there is not much solution available with present infrastructure”.


Chairman Briefs about Commissions Roadmap
Considering many grievances of Apartment owners he said, “For high rise residents who have been facing grievance due to AOA or builders, distribution code 2005 says that buildings have load above 25KVA will be given one single point load however no one will be denied single connection if requested”.
Elaborating over the same he added, “In today’s prevailing tariff the tariff of single point connection is less so that single point owner can take extra charge. Commission proposes in this tariff order that Multi storey buildings residents must also get pre-paid power supply and Meter. Individual connection on pre-paid basis will be given to interested residents so that he can be free from AOA or builder. Multi point system is residents right and it will be given (Fine points will be made later)”.
He also announced that the tariff proposed by NPCL has been rejected by Commission. The chairman informed that NPCL will not be allowed to purchase power above present prevailing tariff.
On complaints of frequent power cuts he said, “Break down in Supply hours will be taken in a meeting with their officials on 27th September. We will make sure Greater Noida residents get round the clock power”.

 

Citizens also raised the issue that if development charge is one time paid to the Authority, why is it being taken again by the power corporation. Also citizens demanded to know that if power tariffs are already on the higher side, why are corporation showing loses and demanding an increment.
