New Delhi, 19 August 2022: Amid CBI raid at Manish Sisodia’s residence, Anil Kumar, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Head hailed the probe saying that although it is belated, they welcome it on Friday morning.
He also accused the Delhi government of trying to cover up their corruption in the liquor policy. “AAP is attempting to protect itself by taking cover behind the central investigative agencies’ history of taking down opposition party leaders,” he said.
Sisodia’s residence was raided in connection with a case the agency has registered against him and several top excise officers in the national Capital over alleged corruption in rolling out the recently withdrawn liquor policy by the AAP government.
Kumar stated, “We have been continuously demanding such action. When Delhi was suffering because of Covid, when there were deaths in the city and people were struggling for oxygen, Delhi’s Chief Minister and sharaab mantri were sitting with the liquor mafia and making a liquor policy which Congress has been continuously questioning.”
He also called for the arrest of the ‘Sharaab Mantri’, “even though it is late, and I am sure that the sharaab mantri will be put behind bars. You haven’t got a license for corruption by putting forward your education and health model,” the Congress leader said in an alleged attack at Sisodia.
Apart from taking a dig at the Delhi Govt, he also criticised the BJP for not proactively opposing the policy. “The BJP has eight MLAs in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha. It has seven MPs. How come none of them wrote any letters? Why didn’t they take a delegation to the L-G? There are questions to be asked of BJP politicians as well,” he sternly said.
