Rajasthan, Sept 18th,2022: Rajasthan Congress, led by state CM Ashok Gehlot on Saturday unanimously passed a resolution calling for the appointment of Rahul Gandhi as the party chief.

Rajasthan has become the first state to pass such a resolution in a bid to persuade Rahul Gandhi to take over the reins of the party again.

The meeting comes ahead of the Congress presidential election, for which the nomination process will start on September 24.

“Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee has passed a resolution to make Rahul Gandhi party’s national president. Everyone supported it. The right to appoint state Congress president and AICC members was left to the top brass”, said Rajasthan minister Pratap Singh Khachariya.

Several Congress leaders have said that they want Rahul Gandhi to return as the party chief. However, it is also said that he is not ready to accept the role.

Gandhi had resigned from the post of Congress president after the party’s debacle in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, taking moral responsibility for the defeat.
