I.T.S Engineering College, one of the Premier
Institution in the field of Engineering and Management Education organized a distinguished
guest lecture on “Research and Innovations: How to move forward” by Dr. Deepak Garg
The opening of program was made by welcoming speech of an ITS Engineering College
student who briefed about Dr. Deepak Garg who is one of the renowned Professor in the
Department of Computer Science Engineering in the Thapar University, Patiala . He is Chair,
IEEE Computer Society India Council and Chair, IEEE Education Society India council and
Chair, ACM SIGACT North India. He is also the coordinator of NBA nodal centre. Dr. Deepak
Garg was welcomed with the bouquet presentation by Dr. Shailesh Tiwari, HOD-CSE, ITS
Engineering College, Greater Noida and the talk was initiated by Honorable guest Dr. Deepak
Garg explaining his contribution in the Field of Research the key areas being the Data Mining,
Algorithms and Data Structures. He has published more than 70 research papers in international
journals of repute including SCI journals.He explained the difference between research and
innovation and specifically emphasized on research in computer science domain. Being a
researcher working in the area of algorithm cited some of the issues and challenges on various
topics which can be taken as a starting step in the research. Also, advised the faculty to go
through good journals instead of open access especially at the initial stage of their Ph.D.
M.Tech. students and faculty of I.T.S Engineering College attended the session. It was
very prestigious for ITS Engineering College to have such a Dignified and very Humble
Knowledgeable Gentleman and to grasp his views and vision. The lecture closed with handing
of Token of Appreciation and Vote of Thanks. Finally, the HOD- I.T.S Engineering College
congratulated the student volunteers and all the Faculty Members of Computer Science
Department to put in their hard work towards the grand success of the lecture.
