New Delhi, 17 August 2022: The Central Government has decided to move Rohingya refugees to flats with fundamental facilities and security in Delhi’s Bakkarwala region, announced a central minister on Tuesday.

The Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri called it a milestone choice and said, “India has consistently invited the people who have looked for shelter in the country.”

The individuals who made a vocation out of spreading canards on India’s displaced person strategy purposely connecting it to CAA will be disheartened, he added.

This decision came after a high-level meeting on the Rohingya issue was held in the national capital. The meeting was led by the Chief Secretary of Delhi and was attended by senior authorities of the Delhi government, Delhi Police and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

It was also maintained that the Delhi government was bearing around Rs 7 lakh each month as lease for the tents where Rohingyas were moved in the Madanpur Khadar region after a fire incident raged the camp where they were previously stationed.
