RSTT organizes heritage walk in Delhi for the visually impaired

New Delhi, 13th October 2019: Rising Star Tours and Travels organised a “Heritage Walk” in Delhi for the visually-impaired people in association with Modern Public School (Shalimar Bagh). The excursion covered the epoch of Mughal Dynasty to the wars of Independence. The students and visually-impaired people explored the streets of Chandni Chowk, Shajanabad, Lal Quila, and Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib.

The tour started by visiting the ‘Moonlight Square’ (Chandni Chowk), an archaeological gem, where the group walked hand-in-hand through the streets filled with aroma of delectable food being cooked in numerous shops. The volunteers of RSTT Khilte Chehre were there to describe the surrounding to them and make them feel the aura of the place they are moving in, a place that is filled with history at every step.

After having a filling & delicious breakfast from the local shops, the group proceeded to have a walk in the beautiful lanes of Ballimaran where they visited the house of Mirza Galib and learned about the cultural diversification that the nation holds within. Holding each other’s hand, the batch proceeded to visit, yet another, memorial and historical place which was ‘Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib’.

Afterward taking a moment to themselves and enjoying the calmness of Gurudwara Sahib, they were then escorted to the ‘Red Fort’ where they played a game of quiz and remembered the history and sacrifices made for the freedom. “We believe that everyone deserves to experience the eternal joy of travel and exploration, regardless of their disabilities. I loved the way they enjoyed every bit of the conducted tour. It is always a delight to see the passion in these special souls and especially the way they prepare themselves without anyone’s support. Our team believe that travel becomes a holistic experience when we engage all our senses with the strength and self-love. We aimed to help them discover a whole new world and become a part of it. It is all about living life, about spreading happiness by being someone’s eyes”, said Mr. Amit Jain, Founder and Managing Director of Rising Star Tours and Travels.

The walk across the heritage was one of the purest forms of love, strength, and compassion among everyone for each other when it comes to being someone’s support or a shoulder to lean on. It was indeed a pleasure to see the modernities walk hand in hand with the visually impaired special souls while each & every one of them was having conversations rich with pure joy and education. To bring the rich culture & history that our capital Delhi hold within, to make to youth come closer with the roots in order to have a clear picture of what was it like in the past was the main objective of the trip”, said Mrs Alka Kapur, Principal, Modern Public School (Shalimar Bagh).

Coming closer to the roots of the history and confronting in such a manner, even if it’s by touching every inch of the architecture or by listening, feeling and seeing the memorable places, it is all about keeping the bond intact with the culture, exceptional moments, extraordinary places and beauty that the aura holds because of the people who have left their footprints on the same roads and streets while creating history.
