India, January 10: Sports Authority of India on Monday has decided to close 67 SAI training centers across the country amid the rising cases of COVID-19 in India.
This decision comes in the wake of directives issued by various states to suspend sporting activity for the safety of athletes.
According to a statement from SAI, “In view of rising cases of COVID-19, the Sports Authority of India has decided to close 67 SAI Training centres across the country.”
The SAI centres would reopen after a review of the condition in due course.
Moreover, national camps for elite athletes will continue in bio-bubbles.
COVID 19 cases are on huge rise. On Monday, India reported fresh 1,79,723 cases. With this, the total active caseload in India has surged to 7,23,619.
