New Delhi: Today, Delhites carried out a candle march prayer for saving Avni, the tigress from Ralegaon, Maharashtra.
These people came from various part of the city. Some were students from different colleges while some were professionals from the corporate sector.

The Maharashtra Government seems to have left no stone unturned in their attempt to find a five-year-old tigress, ‘Avni’, labeled as a ‘man-eater’ and ‘killer’ behind 13 human bodies. A team of around 150 forest officials is on the lookout for the T1 female tiger, also a mother of two cubs, in the Pandharkawda forest in Ralegaon, Maharashtra.

The administration has already sent a pack of large elephants, horses as well as Italian bred dogs inside the territory to assist in shooting the tigress on sight. While numerous discrepancies in the study of this case have left the activists and public agitated, the government remains unfazed by the repeated calls for reconsideration.

Approaching the grounds of India Gate with the message “#LetAvniLive”, these people sang a really beautiful song titled “Bezubaani”.

“People in demand of development, are becoming pro-deforestation on a very large scale and killing our national animal out there. They have to understand that an animal, who is not a man-eater, should not be treated like one. If we want our place, where we wish to feel secure, we should not bring any harm to other organisms because they are also expecting a happy living with their family out there.”, people from candle march happened at India Gate said.
