My School is my second home: Varun Singh Bhati, Arjuna Awardee!

After accepting the Arjuna Award from the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Greater Noida’s para-athlete Varun Singh Bhati visited his alma mater ‘St Joseph’s School’ in Alpha 1. Varun and was felicitated by the school for his Arjuna Award win at a special school assembly. Varun was honoured by the Archbishop of Agra, Father Albert D’Souza. He said, “I’m certain Varun will inspire more young children to not just take up sports, but also excel in this field.”

He also addressed the students in the morning assembly, Varun said, “I don’t want to give any inspirational speech today, because I’m sure you all will reach great heights anyway. I’m here to ask you to take a pledge. I want to urge you to take up a sport. It doesn’t have to be a career option, but take it up for your health and fitness. It could be any game – badminton, basketball and athletics. And I’ll be looking forward to seeing more Arjuna Awardees from St Joseph’s.”

Varun further said that “he still hasn’t lost touch with his school and he practices on the school grounds when he is in Greater Noida. “My school is my second home. Whenever I am in Noida, I practice here daily. Toh yahan toh aata hi rahunga,” he said.
