Senior Bureaucrat Shashi Prakash Goyal Reviews Facilities and Launches ‘Vidya Setu’ Initiative at GIMS

Greater Noida News (28/03/2026): The Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Shashi Prakash Goyal, conducted an official visit to the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) on Friday, where he assessed the institution’s academic, clinical, and research progress, while also inaugurating a key educational initiative.
The visit began with a formal reception led by the Director of GIMS, Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Kumar Gupta, along with Heads of Departments and senior faculty members. Following the welcome, the Director presented a detailed overview of the institute’s ongoing developments, highlighting advancements in patient care services, academic excellence, research output, faculty strength, and infrastructure expansion.
During the briefing, the Chief Secretary acknowledged the consistent efforts of the GIMS team in strengthening healthcare delivery and medical education. He commended the institution for maintaining high standards and encouraged the staff to continue their dedicated work. He also emphasized the importance of structured training programs and skill development initiatives being conducted at the institute.

As part of the visit, the Chief Secretary toured several key facilities, including the Centre of Medical Innovation, Skill Lab, and Research Laboratory. He reviewed the available infrastructure and appreciated the institute’s commitment to integrating modern technology and innovation into medical education and patient care.
A major highlight of the visit was the inauguration of GIMS Vidya Setu, an innovative academic platform aimed at enhancing knowledge-sharing and professional training within the healthcare sector. The initiative is designed to support medical, nursing, and paramedical professionals through a wide range of skill-based programs, including ICU training, HSSC courses, nursing modules (both mandatory and elective), internship programs, and other specialized training courses.
GIMS Vidya Setu seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical healthcare delivery. With its vision centered on building a strong connection between education and service, the platform aims to equip healthcare professionals with the skills needed to provide compassionate, efficient, and high-quality care. Guided by the motto “Better Tomorrow in Healthcare Delivery,” the initiative aspires to play a significant role in shaping the future of healthcare.

The Vidya Setu team comprises Dr. Samiksha Khanooja, Dr. Sonal, Prof. Dr. Neetu Bhadauria, Dr. Pallavi, Dr. Shikhar, Ms. Neha, and Mr. Prasidh, who will lead the implementation and development of the program.
The visit concluded with a tree plantation ceremony, symbolizing a shared commitment towards environmental sustainability and a greener future.
The event was attended by key officials, including Dr. Saurabh Srivastava (CMS), Dr. Rambha Pathak (Dean), Dr. B. S. Yadav (Faculty In-charge, Administration), Dr. Brij Mohan (Medical Superintendent), along with Heads of Departments, resident doctors, nursing staff, logistics personnel, and other members of the GIMS community.
