Senior Trinamool Congress official, Partha Chatterjee excused from all party positions

West Bengal (29/07/22): Partha Chatterjee, a senior Trinamool Congress leader, has been removed from all party positions and the cabinet after being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate for an alleged scam in teacher recruitment in the state.

Party leader Abhishek Banerjee announced that Chatterjee has been suspended from the party.

The Calcutta High Court directed the CBI to investigate alleged irregularities in the recruitment of Group C and Group D staff, as well as assistant teachers in grades 9 to 12 and primary teachers.
