SHO, journalists arrested on extortion charges, 8 lakh rupees recovered

Greater Noida (30/01/2019) : It has not been a month since SSP Vaibhav Krishna has taken charge of Gautam Budh Nagar but within this short time span, he has made it very clear that at any cost he will not tolerate any corruption in the department. And a strict action will be taken against the accused despite who so ever they are.

In a major “Trap” Operation carried out under the command of SSP, SHO Sector 20 Manoj Pant and three journalists Sushil Pandit, Udit Goyal, and Raman Thakur were arrested on charges of extorting money from a Call Center owner. Apart from this, in this whole incident involvement of an Additional SHO Jaiveer Singh is also under suspension and for now, he has been suspended. 

As per the information a police team raided at SHO city sector 20 office and caught all of them the red-handed while they were extorting 8 lakh from a call center owner on the name of removing his name from FIR registered against him earlier in Nov 2018.



Vaibhav Krishna SSP GBN in a telephonic byte told that “all the arrested accuseds were being sent to jail and the other details will be disclosed in the press conference after we have proper information.” 

Police have recovered cash of 8 lakh extorted from the call center, a pistol of .32 bore ans one Mercedes Car from one of the arrested journalist that was allegedly being used for conducting illegal activities.

As per the sources, the arrested accused were in plan to extort crores from the call center owner but before that SSP laid the trap and nabbed them.

Following the news reports of the incident, Greater Noida Press Club also suspended Udit Goyal and Raman Thakur from its primary membership and ordered for an internal investigation in the matter.
