Siddaramaiah, Shivkumar to take oath tomorrow, key opposition leaders invited for ceremony

New Delhi, 18th May 2023: Putting an end to days of suspense, the Karnataka CM position is to be claimed by Congress leader Siddaramaiah. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge is expected to deliver the official announcement later today.

This comes after days of contention between the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief DK Shivkumar and former CM and leader of the Opposition, Siddaramaiah.

Both leaders had been in Delhi to have discussions over the state party leadership with the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.

With Siddaramaiah at the top, DK Shivkumar is to assume the position of the deputy CM of the state. There is still no clarity over the top position’s rotational status, which was reported earlier.

This comes as the Congress witnessed a sweeping victory in the state elections, securing 135 seats to become the single largest party forming the government and handing over the decisive mandate t the state.

Meanwhile, Karnataka CM designate Siddaramaiah in a phone call invited Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin for swearing in ceremony which is scheduled on May 20. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Dy CM Tejashwi Yadav will also go for the swearing-in ceremony of Karnataka CM designate & Dy CM designate.
