Singer Richa Sharma to be the brand ambassador for Faridabad

Renowned Bollywood singer Richa Sharma has been chosen to be the brand ambassador for Faridabad in its campaign for ‘Smart City’. The industrial town has been named in the list of 98 cities that have been picked for being the ‘smart city’ of the future.  The city, named in the first list of 98 cities, is now working hard to make it to the top 20 cities out of these 98 cities, which, the smart city initiative provides underlines to take in the first phase to convert to smart city.

In a meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) smart city panel and other senior officials of the district, it was decided to nominate Richa Sharma as the brand ambassador for Faridabad for the smart city mission. Richa, born on 29^th August 1980 in Faridabad has been brought up in the city and is called as the ‘Daughter of Faridabad’.  Being the daughter of a priest Richa is inclined towards devotional music too and has several devotional albums to her name. From the very childhood she has been trained by the parents to sing devotional songs and Bhajans. Richa came into limelight in the year 2006 with the longest song in Bollywood in film Babul.  She came with her first devotional album on Sai Baba “Sai Ki Tasveer’ at Faridabad.  After making her Bollywood debut with “Salma pe Dil Aa Gaya” on the year 1996, at the age of 16 only, Richa has now worked with music stalwarts of Bollywood like A.R.Rahman, Anu Malik, and Ram Sampath etc. It is not only the Hindi songs to the credit of Richa. She has given her voice to songs in Punjabi and Rajasthani songs too. One of her all time hits were her songs from the movie Taal. She has also bagged several awards.  She was adjudged ‘best female playback singer on Bollywood’ for the year 2003 for her song in movie “Kaante”. In the year 2011, she was awarded with ‘Zee Cine Award for best playback singer female’ for her song “Sajda” in ‘My name is Khan”. She has been a frequent face on different TV channels in one program or the other. In some she participated as a judge.

Faridabad would be witnessing a grand performance of this daughter of the city on 19^th November, informed D. R.Bhaskar, Superintending Engineer, Municipal Corporation of Faridabad. Bhaskar is the nodal officer for the smart city project on behalf of the District Faridabad. Bhaskar said that Richa would be promoting Faridabad as a smart city and would also be motivating people to contribute their best to make their city a smart city.
