New Delhi, 02nd July 2023: Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, said today that the situation in conflict-torn Manipur is “fast improving” and will improve further in the next week or ten days. He slammed Congress, saying it is “crying” now that relative calm has been restored in the northeastern state but was mute during the height of the ethnic turmoil.
He also “guaranteed” that the state’s condition is better than it was a month ago, and that the Home Ministry and the Manipur administration are “silently working” towards that goal.
“I can tell you with certainty that the situation in Manipur has improved from where it was one month ago…”The situation is quickly returning to normal,” he continued.
Sarma, who is widely regarded as the BJP’s top regional troubleshooter, lashed out at the grand old party just a day after its senior leader, Rahul Gandhi, returned from a two-day trip to Manipur.
Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, too, mocked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Manipur on Friday, claiming he engages in “vulture tourism.”
Minister Chandrasekhar accused Rahul Gandhi of visiting regions where people are in need rather than actively tackling long-standing concerns in those societies.
