New Delhi (India), 20th April 2023: SpaceX successfully completed its 25th mission of the year on Wednesday, launching 21 second-generation Starlink internet communications satellites into low-Earth orbit after a relatively quiet first half of April in terms of launches.
At 10:31 a.m. EDT, the B1073 core was launched by a Falcon 9 rocket, her third flight of 2023 and eighth overall, from the famed Space Launch Complex (SLC)-40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This was the third out of the four T-0 opportunities for the day.
Weather conditions were excellent, with an acceptance probability of 85% on Wednesday and a decline to 75% for four backup attempts on Thursday morning.
45th Weather Squadron at Patrick Space Force Base in its L-1 update on Tuesday morning said, “High pressure centered across the northern Gulf Coast will shift northeast into the Deep South, reaching the Western Atlantic on Wednesday.”
More than 4,200 production-design Starlinks have been launched into orbit between May 2019 and this launch, enabling the delivery of high-speed and low-latency internet across more than 50 sovereign states and global markets spanning North and South America, Europe, Asia, Oceania, and Africa. Haiti, Ecuador, and El Salvador have all formally joined Starlink in the past several weeks alone.
