New Delhi, 24 May 2022: The Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia stated at the World Education Forum, 2022, London that there has been a 21% increase in the student enrollment rate in Delhi government schools.
The government schools are better than private schools in Delhi, leading to more enrollment of students. Since 2015 there has been 21% more enrollment, there is also 100% pass percentage of the students, unlike the private schools. “Also, there has been a steep rise in the number of students qualifying for prestigious exams every year,” Sisodia added.
While in 2015, government schools were deemed to be in dilapidated condition, no facilities and outdated curriculum, Sisodia has claimed that they have changed the situation of government schools in a few years. “Delhi government schools have become world-class. The schools are equipped with modern buildings, smart classrooms, and grounds with excellent sports facilities,” the Delhi Education Minister stated.
While addressing the audience, Manish Sisodia stated, “When I speak about the future of education, I do not only mean the future of the students who are studying in schools but also of families, societies and nations. Education today is not only about educating those who are uneducated and under-educated but also about educating those who are being miseducated. As a government, first of all, we asked the school principals and teachers to share their vision for their schools rather than telling them what they need to do.” he added.
In the presence of 122 education ministers from various countries, he highlighted that the dropout rates will be reduced when the government would make the “educational spaces interesting and dignified, students will definitely come back.”
