Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary celebrated at Mewar Group of Institutes

Mewar Group of Institutes organized a function at its Vasundhara campus in Ghaziabad to mark Swami Vivekananda’s 152nd birth anniversary. A dramatic representation based on Swami Vivekananda’s life, along with speeches and poetry recital,brought alive to the audience Swami Vivekananda’s message to the youth in particular and the whole humanity in general. The program highlighted how Swami Vivekananda played a key role in introducing the Indian philosophy of Vedanta to the West and in reclaiming India’s spiritual position in the world at a time when the country was still under foreign yoke.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya, Chairman, Mewar Group of Institutes, urged the students to read Swami Vivekananda’s Madras speech, “My Plan of Campaign,” delivered in 1897 and follow the message. Dr. Gadiya observed that due to their ignorance and lack of knowledge, the Indian youth today end up accepting films stars as their icons. He added that if the Indian youth instead choose sages likeSwamiVivekananda as their icon, it will definitely brighten the prospects of our country’s progress and rise on the global horizon. Dr. Gadiya further observed that we will have to chalk out plans of development of our country taking into account our own human and natural resources; otherwise, all government programs will remain good only on paper.

The play depicting Swami Vivekananda’s life and philosophy kept the audience engrossed till the end. It began with a dialogue between Ramakrishna Paramhans and Swami Vivekananda, and went on to portray how an ordinary young man named Narendra gradually grew into Swami Vivekananda and established the supremacy of Indian philosophy all over the world.

B.Ed students put life into the play through their lively dramatic representation of Swami Vivekananda’s life. In addition, singing of Vande Matram by MSW students, speeches by Neha Tyagi, faculty, Management Department, and Wasit Ali, a student, along with poetry recital by Karishma and Akansha of Law department were the high points of the cultural program.

Nikhil Agarwal, President of Cambridge Global Partners, also made a PowerPoint presentation on the life and contribution of Swami Vivekananda. Dr. Gadiya presented Nikhil Agarwal and Riyaz, a senior journalist from Jammu & Kashmir, with a shawl and a memento to honor them on the occasion.Dr. Alka Agarwal, Director, Board of Studies, Mewar University and Sh. Bharat Bhushan, Director General, Mewar Law Institute, also graced the program with their presence. The program concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
