1476On23 rd June 2016 Brig B Jayan (HOD Department of Orthodontics, Army Dental Centre &R Hospital, Delhi) inaugurated the Research Centre for Life Sciences and Metallurgy studies at I.T.S Dental College Hospital & Research Centre, Greater Noida This Research Centre is first of its kind in Northern India equipped with State-Of- The-Art equipment which will cater to the research needs of not only the students of I.T.S Dental College but also to whole of North India. The facilities provided will be in the field of microbiological studies, genomics, biochemistry & pathology, tissue culture and metallurgy lab.  On this occasion Brig B Jayan dedicated this Research Centre to the college. He said that Research is the only solution to any problem in the medical field and well-conducted research is vital to the success of global heath endeavors.  Not only does research form the foundation of program development and policies all over the world, but it can also be translated into effective global health programs.  This Centre will help in closing the gap between clinical practice and research. Vice – Chairman of I.T.S – The Education Group Mr Sohil Chadha in his address told that the main aim of I.T.S – The Education Group is to provide excellent teaching and research facilities to the students to increase their knowledge. He told that “RESEARCH IS CREATING KNOWLEDGE”, Research leads to an expansion of knowledge and discoveries of new medical treatments and cures This lab will help students not only in their studies but will also help them to explore newer avenues in the field of research. Director, Dr Anmol S Kalha told that this is the only Research Centre in the Dental Colleges of northern India. He told this centre will cater to the research needs of not only students of college but also to the researchers in the near vicinity. He expressed that advances in health information technology are enabling a transformation in health research that could facilitate studies that were not feasible in the past, and thus lead to new insights regarding health and disease. He told that the main aim of opening this lab is to create insight among the students for research so that they can find newer methods of diagnostic techniques and natural products which will be helpful in treating the patients.Principal Dr, Puneet Ahuja, spoke about the importance of research in medical field. He told that India is beginning its third epoch of “nation building” in the life sciences—the first being the construction of educational institutions at the inception of an independent India in the 1950s, the second being the launch of research Institutes devoted to modern biology in the 1980s, and now the investment to build a research/biotechnology enterprise that can compete internationally. The main aim of this research centre is to guide and educate students in field of life sciences like microbiology, genomics and metallurgical studies. The formal inauguration was followed by the ribbon cutting ceremony by the dignitaries and a detailed tour of the Research Centre by the Research Co-ordinator. The dignitaries and guests were introduced to the advanced technology and machines in the various laboratories of the Research Centre. The program ended with High Tea for the dignitaries and faculty members.
