Thane Municipal Corporation Awarded SKOCH Order of Merit for Dialysis Centers and Hospital Information Management System

The Skoch Awards celebrate human excellence and agents of change in Indian society. Since after their inception, they have become one of the most recognized and reputed independently instituted civilian honors in India. The Skoch Awards have become the only independent benchmark of best practices in India in the fields of governance, finance, banking, technology, corporate citizenship, economics and inclusive growth.
This year 52nd SKOCH Summit on State of Governance was organized at Constitution Club of India, New Delhi between 21st and 23rd June.
Apart from seminars and panel discussions on different issues of public interest, SKOCH Order-Of-Merit was also given to worthy winners from all across the nation.
Thane Municipal Corporation also bagged two Order-Of -Merits for two its excellent initiatives. The first Order of Merit was awarded to the Five Dialysis Center and Dr. RT Kendre, Chief Medical Officer of Thane Municipal Corporation collected the award.
Thane Municipal Corporation has set up 5 dialysis ceners on PPP basis with each center having a capacity of 10 dialysis machines. The project targets the critical need of offering afforadbale dialysis for patients suffering with kidney failures.
The centers have been launched at five locations in Thane city. Under this initiative total number of 50 dialysis machine shave been purchased by TMC.
The second initiative of Thane Municipal Corporation which won Order of Merit was Hospital Information Management System. HIMS was adopted by TMC for Rajiv Gandhi Medical College and Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, Kalwa. The system helped the corporation to streamline and automate regular functions thus helping to cater to large number of patients. Also cloud based deployment of HIMS application led to removal of dependency on maintaining on premise hardware such as servers.
Omprakash Divate, Deputy Commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation was present at ceremony to collect the award.
Talking about various initiatives of TMC he said, “Under the leadership of Sanjeev Jaiswal, Municipal Commissioner, Thane Municipal Corporation, about 150 projects have been undertaken for the welfare of general public. We are also making best possible use of technology to increase efficiency and transparency. Awards such as these keep everyone motivated to keep working hard for public welfare”.
