Virender Sehwag was today awarded as the Social Media Person of the Year at India Digital Summit organized by IAMAI.

After a great career as cricketer, Sehwag has been hitting it out of the boundary on social media.

Within one year Sehwag has increased his followers from 4 million to 15 million.

Speaking of the same Sehwag said, “I try to be honest and true at the social media. My attempt always is to make people happy and that’s what I try to do on the social media as well”.

Sehwag said that in dressing room also he used to crack jokes to ease the environment.

Sehwag also revealed how he is monetizing his Twitter reach and said that on social media the reach of indirect marketing is much more than direct marketing. He informed that he was once paid 10 Lakh ruppes for a tweet by PayTM.

Speaking about what made him open Schools and Sehwag academy, “In my childhood days I had to travel for hours to practice. My father at those times said that if you at anytime become capable make sure that you open educational institutes so that at least some people have to travel little less to get training or education”.
