Greater Noida, Dec 12, 2022: Book titled ‘Time for Bharat: A Researched Conversation on Governance’ was launched at a well-attended ceremony at BIMTECH, Greater Noida.

The books brings forward different ideas regarding key aspects of governance and individual chapters of “Time for Bharat – A Researched Conversation on Governance” have been authored by an eclectic bunch of authors, besides the editors.

Arun Ganesh, recipient of Lifetime Achievement Award at the Asia Insurance Industry Awards 2020 and the co-editor of “Time for Bharat: A Researched Conversation on Governance”, spoke to Ten News Network about the book during the launch ceremony.

When asked about the inspiration behind the book, Ganesh spoke in detail about ” the idea of governance” being the driving force behind the book. “When you talk about governance, it is not just the prerogative of the government alone. When we talk about governance, we include the wider body of stakeholders…we are also talking about students, think tanks, the intelligentsia, professionals, and media. We are all equal stakeholders in the concept of governance,” he said.

Ganesh also talked extensively about India’s rich history and noted, “India is the oldest civilization in the world. When we started researching, we found out there are experts who have come out with scientific theories that we are not 5000 years old but we are 25000 years old..we found out that there were certain principles & practices which really contributed to Indian civilization dominating the world’s GDP for most of its history.”

“This book is a visionary document from our side and we are culling the best of practices and governance issues and areas. But, this is not an end-all and gives rise to a conversation,” he said.

Expounding upon the concept of his book, Ganesh added, “In the entire book, we have not mentioned any religion or religious practices. Our civilization actually predates all the religions that have come into the world..if there is a governance which is to be based on the righteous conduct, then prosperity levels in terms of material, spiritual, and ethical prosperity can be achieved.”

Srinath Sridharan, an eminent corporate leader and co-editor of “Time for Bharat” also spoke to Ten News Network about how the book is more about ideas, conversations, and discussions that we can have.

“In this book, we are not fixated on any philosophy or any -isms. Also, this book is not about any religion at all..We are the only country in the world which has two names in the constitution which says ‘Our India, that is Bharat’. We often mistakenly say India is rich but Bharat is poor, India is educated but Bharat is uneducated, India is urban but Bharat is rural. We need to get rid of this as Bharat is all of us,” added Sridharan.

The editors of “Time for Bharat: A Researched Conversation on Governance”, Arun Ganesh and Srinath Sridharan, have also contributed their own writings in the book.

Sakate Khaitan, a highly accomplished lawyer and a contributing author in “Time for Bharat” spoke about educational reforms which he has thoroughly discussed in the book. “With NEP 2020, a large part of what was not working in terms of the framework for education has been put in place. It is now time for educational institutions, public and private enterprises to work within that system and create a foundation for our youth to be able to contribute to the society,” he said.

Abhijit K Chattoraj, a highly-revered insurance academician and another contributing author thanked the editors for presenting him with the opportunity to give his inputs for the book. He contributed a chapter surrounding healthcare and voiced the need for a vibrant healthcare system in the days to come. “India’s healthcare system, the way we have done during Covid, must inspire confidence. There are certain grey areas and in the book we have addressed them so that Bharat can have a more vibrant healthcare system,” he noted.

In this book, different authors with expertise in their respective subjects, present their various ideas pertaining to how Bharat can be transformed through robust public governance.
